Development is on hold for now.
Borderton is a relaxing, but deep pixel-art village builder at the edge of the world. You will start with nothing but a few villagers, and will help them gather the resources they need to survive and thrive. Build out your town, explore the surrounding area, gather resources, advance in technology, and enjoy watching your villagers live. What kind of village will you build?
Your Villagers
Villagers are simple little sprites, but they have surprisingly complex behavior. They're almost entirely automated, so you don't have to manage them much, and they do a pretty good job of acting reasonably.
They can build, craft, farm, transport, etc., but they aren't just workers either. They have preferences and desires, and there are a lot of aspects of village life that they care about. Make sure you pay attention to what they want if you want to keep your village happy!
Economy
The heart of the gameplay loop is the economic system. In order to sustain and improve your village, the villagers must gather or produce resources. Sometimes this involves creating specialized buildings. Some resources, like food, are quite critical, although they tend to be easier to get. Others, like beer or glass, are harder to acquire and are a later-game target.
A successful village will be able to efficiently produce all the resources they need. Whether by building roads or organizing your village's layout, make sure that your villagers have an easy time making what they want.
Creativity
The game isn't all mechanical, though. It isn't too hard to stay solvent (unless you want it to be!) and there's a lot of room to explore different strategies or just build a village that looks aesthetically pleasing. Create a village that you want to see!
